Trump Says Apple CEO Cook Promised to Build Three Factories in US

Apple is planning to build three “big, big, big” factories in the United States, the U.S. President Donald Trump said in an interview on Tuesday, Apple has been ready for construction of three “Big” plants in the America. And Apple is currently working towards their goals. Moreover, Trump is trying to revive American manufacturing, this news can help him to achieve goal, too.

The news was revealed by the President Trump in an interview with The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday in 45 minutes long, while Apple CEO Tim Cook reportedly told U.S. President Donald Trump.

President Donald Trump told the Wall Street Journal that Apple CEO Tim Cook promised him the tech titan would build “three big plants, beautiful plants” in the USA.

As The Wall Street Journal reports:

“I spoke to [Mr. Cook], he’s promised me three big plants—big, big, big,” Mr. Trump said as part of a discussion about business-tax reform and business investment. “I said you know, Tim, unless you start building your plants in this country, I won’t consider my administration an economic success. He called me, and he said they are going forward.”

Trump

Trump didn’t elaborate on potential locations or construction dates for the manufacturing facilities, and Apple representatives declined to provide comments on Trump’s statement.

Apple has said that before they were ready to invest $1 billion to set up a fund, which aims at helping gain advanced manufacturing jobs in the United States. In Cook’s opinion, due to the establishment of a broad developer network, Apple has already created 2 million jobs in the United States.

Last week, Apple suppliers Corning told interviewer that it would soon collect a $500 million investment to create 1000 new jobs in the United States, but these jobs are mainly related to medical equipment. Apple supplier Foxconn is also preparing to build manufacturers of new display panel in the United States.

It seems to be a difficult by Apple to produce products in USA from the past history, after all, China has already established a powerful electronic supply chain. Cook himself is supply chain experts, compared with the former CEO of Apple, he seems to be more positive to “made in USA“.
