Major Internet Companies Ditching Supports For the Apple Watch

Major Internet Companies Ditching Supports For the Apple Watch

According to the reports of latest tech news On May 2, 2017, Google Maps, Amazon and eBay are among the top tier apps that are no longer supporting the WatchOS extension within their iOS apps.

Google Maps removed support a few weeks ago, as to whether support WatchOS again in the future, there is no certain answer. Similarity, while newly-updated eBay and Amazon iOS apps contain no reference to Apple’s wearable, too. Before this, their iOS App had been supporting Apple Watch, but when it came to the end of April, eBay and Amazon both have update the program, as none as to support Apple Watch by this Monday.

Why Did They Abandon Apple Watch?

Although none of the companies concerned have explained their reasoning for withdrawing support, it can be assumed the Apple Watch extensions are not being used widely enough to justify the upkeep.

The fact that these high-profile app removals have gone secretly from Apple Watch largely unnoticed could be a sign that the apps simply were not widely used. In contrast, removing iPad support from an iOS app, for example, would likely be noticed immediately and generate headlines.

Google confirmed it had removed support from Google Maps but suggested that move might be temporary.

“We removed Apple Watch support from our latest iOS release but expect to support it again in the future,” Google spokesman said in a latest statement.
